Yangon and surrounding (MY 00-3)

This program will be covered the  two tastes of city and country sites included Capital Yangon and Ancient Mon Capital “Bago “and former Portugal port city Thanylin.

Day 1 Arrive Yangon

Breakfast – Lunch

Arrive Yangon Int’l Airport. Meet at airport and welcomed by our experienced guide and transfer to hotel. Start Yangon City tour including Sule Pagoda, dating back over 2,000 years ago, Chauk Htat Gyi Pagoda famous with a huge reclining Buddha image and Karaweik Royal Barge a ‘hamsa –bird-shaped” floating barge on Kandawgyi (Royal) Lake. Complete our first day in Myanmar with an extended visit to one of the world’s most spectacular monuments, Shwedagon Pagoda: its golden stupa is the “heart” of Myanmar. The pagoda is believed 2,500 years old and the central stupa in surrounded by dozens of intricately decorated buildings and statues.

Day 2 Yangon – Thanlyin – Yangon

Breakfast – Lunch

This morning, we depart for Thanlyin (Syriam), the colonial town of Thanlyin (Syriam) was a major port and important trading centre from the 14th through the 18th centuries until it was displaced by Yangon in 1755. Arrive Thanlyin. We start with a visit of Kyaik- Khauk Pagoda (Most likely the first stupa on this hillock was erected by the Mon AD- 600-800). Enjoy panoramic Bago River View and Skyline of City Yangon. Proceed to Kyauk Tan. Take a local boat to visit the pagoda. Its approximately named since the complex is perched on a tiny Island in the middle of the river. Drive back to Yangon and afternoon visit to the Bogyoke Market (Scotts market) with hundreds of food, clothing, handicrafts and gems store. In the evening visit China to see the people ways of life. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 3 Yangon – Bago – Yangon

Breakfast – Lunch

Drive to north of Yangon, the Ancient Mon Dynasty Called “Bago” (80 km, 2 hrs drive). On the way visit Kyeik Pon Pagoda – 28 meter high huge Buddha Image. Proceed to Bago and continue visit to Kya Khat Wai Monastery, one of the three largest Monasteries in the country. Viewing the long line of Monks and Novices taking their last meal of the day in silence is quite an impressive sight. Visit Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the most venerated pagoda in Myanmar and a great statue (55 feet long) of a reclining Buddha, believed to have been built in 944. In the afternoon, we will see the Kanbawzadi Palace, Shwetharlaung with huge reclining Buddha. Continuing on, we walk around Mon Village to see the handmade weaving and daily life of the Mon People, cheroot making factory. Drive Back to Yangon, on the way visit Htauk Kyant War Memorial Cemetery, a regal memorial to the 27,000 Allied soldiers who died in World War II. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4 Depart Yangon

We are transferred to the Yangon International Airport for the departure flight to your next destination.
